This piece is a study of a spruce cone, formed from copper reclaimed from the roof of the old UAF Wood Center.

Part of the attraction to coffee is the ritual that surrounds it. Having a favorite spoon is part of the ritual. This spoon is a simple, functional tool for coffee-making with lots of character. Save


This attempt was to fabricate a spruce pine cone. The initial process was time-consuming. I’m currently exploring ways to shave time off of the process.


I find that making spoons is very satisfying. They are a tool everyone uses whether for measuring, eating, or serving. The purpose and the design can always be different, yet always result as a spoon. Save Save
